From the Year 2001
The once-a-year happenings of Eric, Becky, Daniel and Lauren Steffy

October 2001
October: Daniel (2 yrs), Becky, Lauren (1 yr), Eric

In January and February, Becky was still home on maternity leave for Lauren (born 8/1/00). Since I needed time to work on my business, we decided that Becky would ask Merck to allow her to work part-time or she was just going to stay home. Her department supervisor made a part-time position for Becky that allowed her to keep the same job but without the direct technician supervisor responsibilities. Now Becky does a lot of the administrative and project work that the other supervisors don't have time to do. She works on Monday, Wednesday and 1/2 day on Friday.

I still have my own business at home, building and selling practice targets for the sport of fencing along with one or two days a week as a computer consultant for my former employer. It's a barter agreement where they manufacture the metal for my targets and I write software for them. When the balance shifts in my favor, they send me a check.

We are getting more involved at our "new" church (it still feels new to us because we've only been there about 1 1/2 years now). It's called Branch Community Church and it is a fairly large (2,500) non-denominational church in Harleysville, PA. We've gotten involved in the Young Marrieds' Ministry as part of the core group. YMM takes a bunch of our time, but we really enjoy the benefits of being connected and getting to know lots of people our own age. I also attend a weekly men's Bible study and Becky is a regular at the weekly women's ministry. Our kids love the Kingdom Kids Ministry at Branch and Becky just started helping with special event childcare.
