We continue to be blessed in many ways as 2017 winds down to the end.
- Eric's job keeps him challenged, the work is steady and it hasn't required traveling lately.
- Becky continues to excel on the home front with all the cooking, cleaning, laundry and most important, being Eric's chief supporter and encourager.
- Dan's first semester at college went well and we'll see him again in a couple weeks.
- Lauren is wrapping up her senior year in high school and heading to college next year.
- Natalie's first year in high school is going smoothly so far.
- And Sarah is on her final year in the middle school.
- In the next 12 months, we'll have two in college and two at the high school. Where did all the time go?!?!
Dan has started as a freshman at Charleston Southern University (CSU) majoring in Criminal Justice. He decided not to pursue the Army ROTC program so he's doing his own morning workouts (plus getting in some good arm workouts at his job at a car wash). He's connected to a church in Charleston, SC and is now using his music and tech gifts there.
Lauren has one more semester of high school and then is off to Messiah College (to be a fourth generation student!) next fall with plans to study nutrition and dietetics. She has already been accepted into the Honors College so that will suit her well since she is a very diligent student. In high school this year, she continued with marching band (flute), indoor drumline (cymbals/acting), and chamber ensemble (viola). She's driving around in a used Honda that we got for her earlier this year.
Natalie loves to hang out with her friends, and is eager to start driving. Her interest in sports has continued to increase this year, so we've been watching a lot of NFL [Go Eagles!], some college football, and she's helping with the high school girls basketball team. Natalie joined Key Club this year, is in the women's chorus at the high school, plays clarinet in the concert band, and just got accepted for advanced Symphonic Band next year. Her first semester of freshmen classes at the high school was a pretty light load, but the second semester should be a lot busier.
Sarah has reached teenager status so we've officially got four of them now. She's in eighth grade, continues to do well in school, and is going to be Frau Schmidt (the housekeeper) in the school production of the Sound of Music (junior version). Sarah still spends hours writing, reading, doing puzzles, helping around the house and doing various projects with Eric. She plays trumpet in the band and jazz band, but has dropped cello in favor of chorus this year. She also leads/organizes a Bible study on Friday mornings before school.
